My Experience
As a supervisor for the Home Care development group, I managed anywhere from six to nine engineers, including new hires and tenured staff. In addition to quarterly and annual performance reviews, I met regularly with my staff to assist with their career development.
I continued to develop new features and resolve bugs in addition to my duties as a supervisor. Currently, I am serving as technical lead for a team developing the next generation of the Home Care clinical documentation experience.
Previously, I served as scrum master for the Home Care integration team. Sprint velocity increased 20% due to process improvements made while I was in that role. I mentored several new hires while in this role, and continued developing new projects when possible.
Meditech is a major vendor in the electronic health record space. I worked in the Home Care group on both bug fixes and new features.
I started out working on the clinical side of the application, but quickly transitioned to the integration team. There, I was responsible for communication between the Home Care and Hospital solutions using industry-standard formats like HL7.
Unimpressed by the company's available development tools, I wrote Sublime Text language integration for the proprietary tech stack and made it available to other engineers at the company. I still support this tooling today.
After teaching ninth grade mathematics in my first year, I was able to transfer to the county's STEM magnet school. There, I improved existing courses on engineering, 2D and 3D modeling, and graphic design. I also developed a new capstone engineering course and a computer science course. I also worked as the assistant coach of the engineering and robotics team, which competed in FIRST Robotics and several other competitions.
